One full day of Training

Part 1: Establishing the Coaching Agreement (Core Competency 2): This session explores ICF Core Competency 2 – Establishing the Coaching Agreement and includes a review of the form and the substance of a coaching agreement. The advantages of and types of clauses in a written coaching agreement are discussed. Concepts discussed include defining what is appropriate in the coaching relationship and what the respective responsibilities of the coach and the client are. The session also reviews the process for client intake and how to decline prospective clients gracefully. The session includes live demonstrations, time for small group discussion, 30 minutes of one-to-one practice coaching and one hour of small group mentor coaching.

Part 2: Establishing Trust & Intimacy with the Client (Core Competency 3): This session explores ICF Core Competency 3 – Establishing the Coaching Relationship and begins with a discussion of the importance of rapport between the coach and the client. The session includes a brief exploration of UPR and how coaches can develop it followed by a discussion of stages of trust and intimacy observed in coaching. Students will learn techniques that coaches can use to establish trust and intimacy with the client and strategies for overcoming obstacles to trust and intimacy. The session includes live demonstrations, time for small group discussion, 40 minutes of one-to-one practice coaching (as coach) and one hour of small group mentor coaching.
